How we met
On a typical sunny Los Angeles day, Sémone and Mason met in a green Buckminster Fuller Geodesic Dome house in Culver City. Mason had just moved to LA from Milwaukee for a job at JPL, where he met Vïncê Robbins, who invited him to the beach along with some mutual friends: Ben Yano, Cari Levison, Catherine Levin, and *of course* Sémone Kessler. The group played frisbee, attempted to surf, ate burgers at Hinano’s, and went dancing at The Den. By the end of the night, Mason smoothly asked Sémone on a proper first date. They went to the Hollywood Bowl to see the La Phil, and it was magic.
The rest is history.

So when can I ask for your number?
- Mason (the smoothest pick up line to date)
Over the five plus years we have been together we have learned a lot from each other. We both love to travel, which probably comes from our European parents (Mason’s dad, Abe, is from Amsterdam and Sémone’s mom, Drita, is from Montenegro). This has taught us new perspectives, gratefulness, and to continue to cultivate curiosity. We got a dog named Bodhi, who we are unhealthily obsessed with (our home icon button). He has helped teach us patience, devotion, and persistence. We also bought a house together on Woodrow Wilson in the Hollywood Hills. This was a fixer house that we did a ton of the work on ourselves. This really showed us how we can show up for each other in hard times, and how getting through difficulties with lightness and humor will help them feel easier.
We are extremely excited to take this next step in our relationship, and help usher in this new chapter with love and lessons from our community. We know that love is a choice you make every day and we look to you all to bare witness to the commitment we will continue to make to each other. We respect and admire each and every one of you, and want to thank you for being a part of our journey now and in the future.

The Proposal
It was a perfect bluebird ski day on Powder Mountain in Eden, Utah. Sémone thought we were all going to the Shooting Star Saloon, her favorite bar on the planet, but instead her sister dropped her off at the Pineview Reservoir. They both knowingly stopped with tears in their eyes and hugged. There she saw a trail of roses, and she knew she’d have to wait a bit longer to get her Shooting Star burger. She walked along that trail and it was the most present she’s ever felt. Around a corner she saw Mason and could only look at his piercing blue eyes in the distance. He said something beautiful and got down on one knee with a gorgeous ring hand picked by Abe Mok, who is a jewler at Kessler Diamond’s (kismet? fate?) in Milwaukee. In total shock and bliss, they walked back to the Shooting Star to celebrate with all of their incredible friends.

We took a road trip from Venice to Croatia to Montenegro and had an incredible adventure. I knew he was the one after that trip.
